INTRODUCTION
1. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In recent times, the world has witnessed a rapid increase in the Advent of electronic computer system among other modern technologies. At present computer technology has permeated nearly all aspect of human development, organization roles and Education which encompasses almost all facet of human endeavor.
The need for information is necessary in banking sector because of the nature of their business which in turns require quik and accurate decision to be taken, like in the interest rate and volatile variable in their Operation where as in the production industries, mistake can be rectified and kisses can easily be minimized.
Today, computer technology in financial institution is one of the most far reaching and fast growing development in Education. Millions of Naira may be irretrievably lost in the banking industries as a result of wrong decision based on increase in the information, Computer is employed prominently by Nigeria Banks at all the three management Operators, management control and strategies, which is he the most activities of Banks. The for change as for effective use of Computer leading office arose a result of banks experiencing growing competing from officer's lenders, funds, available are thereby increase move costly time and saving with the result that the average cost of fund will be relatively higher, loans are becoming more complex and also great concern for profitability of costumer's total bank transformation on process could be seen as the management process's which has to be effective to ensure the feasibility of working on the setinput to produce not only the service, but also to come up with reasonable profit for the shareholder and the public at large.
2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Computer has been used for many years on financial planning in Nigeria banks. Information is required to complete every step involved in planning either objective definition and Target decision, forecasting, calculating planning gape defoliation constraints and means through the use of Computer leads to effective use of information actions, like section of alternatives, influence the choose of most appropriate options, permit a feedback on the implementation plan which can for drawing up budget for constituting investment portfolio and bank.
This study is set to look into the problems which computer education has faced in financial institutions and looks forward toward the way-out to the relevance of computer education to financial institutions. Thereby, using stambic bank Nigeria PLC as its study area. The study also looks to the problems of evaluating overall advantages of computer education to financial institutions and it seeks to identify the problems facing the use of computer in financial institutions, this will be breakdown to set up the objectives of the study for the research.
3. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
The primary objective of the study is to know the Relevance of Computer Education to Financial Institutions with which Stambic Bank Nigeria plc, Kaduna State is the study area.
The specific objectives of the study are:
- To determine the importance of computer education to financial institutions in Stambic banks Nigeria plc.
- To evaluate the overall advantages of computerized system of banking over manual system.
- To identify the efforts which Stambic Bank Nigeria plc has put in place embracing Computers.
- To find out the problems facing the use of computer in Stambic Bank plc.
4. RESEARCH QUESTION
In order to conduct study, the following research question should be asked,
- In what way has computer improved service delivery in Stambic banks Nigeria plc?
- What are the merit of adapting computerized method of the banking Stambic banks Nigeria plc?
- What effort has Stambic Bank Nigeria plc put in place to enable them totally embrace the computers?
- What are the problems facing the use of computer in Stambic Bank plc.?
5. SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY
- it is hoped that this study will help to ascertain the extent to which Computerization method of banking service is relevance of banking service in Nigeria.
- This is particularly important for policy makers in banking sectors in Nigeria and it's relevance which is to achieve their aims and objectives.
- It will show the banks an effective way trough which organizational goal and objectives will be achieved.
- The result of this study will enable the shareholders, depositors, government and public at large to know the place of application and appreciation of the relevance of the computer on the Nigeria banking system.
6. SCOPE OF THE STUDY
the scope is restricted to the relevance of computer education to financial institutions on the side of Nigeria banking system by using Stambic Bank Nigeria plc, Zaria branch as a case study.
7. DEFINITION OF TERMS
Relevance: A change that is a result or consequences of an action or other cause.
Computer: it is the control of processes by computer and it is also refers to as equip with or automate by computes.
Computer education: Computer education is designed to build familiarity with one of the the most ubiquitous technologies of the 21st century.
Banking: it is referred to as business conducted or a service offered by bank and it is the occupation of a banker or to pursue a banking career.
System: It a group of things or parts working together in a regular relation.
Internet: This is a world group of connection networks that allows the public to have access to information on millions of various subjects and gives user the capacity to send messages and obtain product or service.
Financial Institution: A financial institution (FI) is a company engage in the business of dealing with monetary transactions, such as deposits, loans, investments and currency exchange.
