1. Introduction
This chapter being the last chapter provides a concise summary of the the whole work, leading to conclusion and finally provides recommendation based on the finding of the study
2. Summary
This study focused on the relevance of computer education to financial institutions with special focus on Stambic Bank plc, Zaria branch. The influence of technology in almost every sphere of life today is indispensable. The use of information and communication technology has been employed in every sector:- education, health, transport, teachology, industry, business etc. Of the economy of the countries all over the globe. Inevitably, the banking industry which is one of the prime movers of any economy is not exempted from the overarching influence of computer operation. In fact, different scholars and writers as well as expert have commented in several literatures that banking operation are amenable to technology. Hence, the computer of the bank and their operations becomes imperative for qualitative, competitive and efficient service to be provided for the banking public sectors, Sowande (1999).
The above discussion forms the reason behind the expedition of this research, that is to find out the roles and the effect so far, that computer of banking operation has had in the promotion and development of banking industry in Nigeria to facilitate this the study is divided into five chapters. The introductory chapter, which is chapter one, introduced the study.
Literature was adequately reviewed in chapter two. Conception issues were discussed while a theoretical Framework was also adopted. A historical background
Of the banking in Nigeria and historical background of first Bank Nigeria plc were explained.
Chapter four dwelled on presentation and analysis of the data generated the hypothesis formulated was also tested. The finding of the study revealed that computer indeed has very significant effect in the operation of the Nigeria banking system. The project work also made some revelations like the need for the banks and the regulatory authorities to enlighten the user of banking service especially, technology more on how to safeguard their funds against fraudster. Conclusion and recommendations were later reached in chapter five.
3. Conclusion
Technology has become a very important and necessary ever in the wirld. It has also been adopted in the banking sector computer has made banking operations more flexible, as well as cutting down the long hours of waiting, and the long queues in the banks.
Computer has helped to transform in the level of banking services. It has facilitated the introduction of different innovation into the banking world by effecting positively on banking operations.
4. Recommendations
From the result obtained in the curse of this research the following recommendation are made as a way of consolidating on the progress made so far in the computer process in the Nigerian banks and also addressing the challenges associated with the concept.
- Bank management should make computer everybody's business, they should ensure that every staff on their payroll is a computer literate. By so doing, the workers will be better placed to render efficient services to customer. This will help to reduce customer waiting time in the banks.
- The bank should also ensure the full interpretation of their operations. All area where are lepses should be identified and appropriate strategies to correct these lapses should be devised and implemented.
- Employees should be expose to continuous training and computerized banking operation both locally and internationally. Workshop and similar that will expose them to current trends in computer in banking system should be organized as this enhance their level of efficiency.
- The government on it's part should ensure that appropriate and congenial environment is created for the banker to operate. The needed technology and equipment should have allowed to be imported into the country without any restrictions. Also, regular power supply and telecommunication facilities should be constants as they are necessary complement for the computer efforts.
- On the part of the customers, there should be massive enlightenment campaign to expose them to risk involve in the use of banking technologies and how to avoid falling preys to fraudsters.
- Furthermore, the banks should also ensure that only well trained and qualified personal are employed. Highly reliable personal are required to make a success of computer efforts work.
- Also the necessary security apparatus should be put in place as well as an update and risk/fraud proof internal controls system as this will help to minimize the exposure of banks to computer fraud/crimes, provision of more functional A.T.M machine should also be made available.
- Government at all levels should make Computer sets with internet facilities available and accessible in financial institution for students and teachers to use in the teaching and learning process to enhance student's academic performance.
- Finally, it's also recommended that computer studies should entrenched our education curriculum especially in public schools and adult education school so as acquaint the general public to the benefits in using banking service and it's technologies.
